The pandemic has introduced many of us to the benefits of tele-video platforms, like Zoom and Microsoft Teams. It has made online communication feel easier and more familiar.
Online counselling can provide you with a convenient way to have your therapy sessions; you can schedule your sessions around work and/or child care commitments. The fact that you don't have to travel to your sessions is a big bonus for many clients, who find that having their sessions from the comfort of their own home, with pets close by, can help them feel more able to open up.
For those working shifts or having to travel for work, online counselling provides them with the flexibility to continue having counselling even when working patterns are constantly changing.
For younger people or those working in the IT industry, online sessions might feel like the natural choice. If so much of your life is lived online or through a combination of the online and offline world, then online counselling might just feel like the most logical choice for your sessions.
Although not everyone is suited to online therapy, those that are have commented on the convenience of sessions and the fact that the computer screen can feel like it is providing a little anonymity, which makes opening up to a counsellor feel easier and allows the process to happen more quickly.
I use doxy.me which is secure, healthcare software. It is straightforward to use but I am able to provide free support at the start of the first session, if required. When you book your first session, I will send you a link for doxy.me; this can be used for all of your sessions. Payment is generally by bank transfer for online sessions.
