Hi, I'm Nikki. I am an accredited counsellor, clinical hypnotherapist and EMDR Therapist.
I work in an integrative way, which means that I am able to provide you with the space to be deeply listened to, understood and valued but I can also suggest interventions and well being strategies that could bring about lasting change.
I have a strong interest and belief in how social context shapes our life experience and well being. Previous clients have commented on how useful it has been to understand how their race, class or gender has impacted them and how the power dynamics within society can lead to anxiety, depression and internalized oppression.
I have been fortunate to live and work in Australia, America and Asia. I bring this experience of living, working and travelling in other cultures to my work, along with a love of walking and a belief in the restorative power of nature.
I know from personal experience how life-changing counselling can be. The experience of being deeply listened to and empathised with by a neutral, non-judgemental professional can really help you work through what is troubling you and move you to a place of calm and contentment, enabling you to feel calmer and happier.
What to expect from your first session.
Your first session will be an Initial Assessment session. This will involve me asking you a number of questions in order to create a framework for how to work effectively together. A lot of people find the structure of an Initial Assessment an easier way to begin their sessions because they are provided with questions and a structure.
I know that for many people finding a counsellor and attending their first counselling session can be nerve wracking. Please rest assured that I will do everything that I can to put you at ease.
When you have finished your Initial Assessment, I will reflect back what I have heard and suggest a way for us to work together. Some people find it useful to separate out the different things in their life that are causing distress or difficulty.
After the Initial Assessment session, clients often spend a few sessions "telling their story" before I start to suggest strategies or interventions. Sometimes clients opt for a combination of counselling and hypnotherapy as a way to work through whatever is troubling them. I review your sessions around session 4 to make sure that you are finding them helpful.
Although many people enjoy the freedom of not specifying how many sessions they will have at the start, other clients have named the number of sessions they would like or can afford from the beginning. Either option is possible.
For more information about how counselling or hypnotherapy could help you, please email: [email protected] or call Nikki on 07954338480.
I am an accredited Integrative Counsellor and Clinical Hypnotherapist, which means that I work in a person-centred way but that I am able to suggest wellbeing strategies and interventions that are drawn from integrative counselling, hypnotherapy or NLP. If we begin working together and I think that you would benefit from EMDR, I will suggest this to you. It will be available to counselling clients at their counselling rate.
Prior to counselling, I worked as a teacher, often in areas of high deprivation. Previous clients have commented on how helpful this lived experience of the stress of the education system has been to them and has contributed to them feeling accepted. I combine my varied therapeutic skills and experience with a warm, down to earth nature, which is likely to help you feel comfortable straightaway.

Anxiety.
Bullying in childhood and at work.
Educational issues including overwhelm, perfectionalism, procrastination and the impact of dyslexia.
